Jaguar has yesterday launched its flagship luxury sedan XJ 3.0 Diesel version at the price of Rs. 92.1 Lac (Ex-showroom before Octroi). The car is relatively priced lower than its previous launch at Rs. 1.16 crore, having benefit of local assembling system.
The car will be assembled at company’s Pune division where company is currently assembling XF sedan and Land Rover. At the event Mr. RohitSuri, VP JLR India said that “We are delighted to introduce the flagship of the Jaguar brand, the epitome of extraordinary luxury, the XJ as locally manufactured, at an extremely competitive price point in the luxury saloon segment in India.”
The major features of the new car includes :
- Two individual reclining seats in the rear with three massage settings,
- Rear seat height and lumbar adjustment,
- A new central console and armrest,
- LED lights at the rear
- Improved head by 13 mm.
- 10.2-inch rear screen
The XJ has been loaded with 3.0-litre 2993cc diesel V6 engine while is capable of producing solid 271 bhp and 61.2kgm and spreads it to two rear wheels through eight-speed automatic gearbox. Jaguar also is also selling its 2.0-litre, four cylinder turbo-petrol engine, but this version is not assembled locally at this point of time.
The car is directly competing with Mercedes-Benz S-class, BMW 7 Series and Facelifted Audi A8. But so far it was lacking behind in sales because of its pricing, now it is expected to do well in the market.
