Volkswagen has issued notice informing that it will issue the recall of around 26000 units produced in 2014. These include the models powered by 1.8-litre turbocharged engines. Volkswagen has decided to these vehicles for the reason being a bad O-ring issue affecting the automatic transmission oil cooler.
These models include Jette, Passat, Beetle and Beetle convertible manufactured during the February 1, to April 6, 2014. The automaker says that “the O-ring does not completely seal between the oil cooler and transmission, due to which, the leaking fluid has a potential to cause a vehicle fire.”
So far no accident have been registered due to this defect, and car maker says this happened because of change in material from supplier. The company will bear all the cost of replacing this defective part.
The first case was registered in March month, then after the manufacturer had issued notice to not to sell 2014 models until the issue got identified.
