India’s largest car maker by number of cars produced Maruti Suzuki, may recall about 1 lac units of its flagship car hatchback Swift and compact sedan Swift Dzire. The company found problem of a loose fitting of fuel cap. The 1 lac car includes second generation models of Swift and Dzire, out of them some of the cars are already sold to customers, some are there with dealers holding and some of them are part of inventory.
This defects in fuel cap may result in more loss of fuel due to evaporation and odour leaking into the cabin. The company has yet not confirmed the recall before investigating the matter and arriving at decision. One of the senior executive confirmed that “there is a defect”.
The company dealers confirmed that it would be avoiding the deliveries for the time being but its not undertaking any mandatory checks or repairs in vehicle already sold to customers.
