Toyota India to Recall 44,989 units of Innova, and 6.4 million units of different models worldwide

Japanese car maker has made many recall in the near history. I really don’t understand the correlation between Toyota’s brand name and number of recalls they made. At the start of this year, Toyota Recalled 2.1 million Prius, RAV4, Tacoma, and Lexus because of software problems. In@009-10 a recall of almost 10 million cars because of sticky accelerator pedal problem, and in 2012 about to 7.5 million models were recalled due to power window defects.

Now it is no another day but the company is recalling 6.4 million vehicles worldwide because of safety features check. The inspection are required in steering column brackets, engine starters, air bag cables, wiper motors, and seat rails. The recall will include 17 models from the company across the globe. In India too, the Japanese player has presence having joint venture with Kirloskar group. The company said on Wednesday, that it is recalling about 44,989 units of Innova due to safety features problem.

These models are manufactured in February, 2005 to December, 2009. “This (error) will lead to continuous illumination of an airbag warning lamp on the instrument cluster giving prior indication of a problem to the customer. In addition, the driver's airbag may get deactivated.” the company said in the statement.
