The concerns in the auto industry is yet not over, the government’s steps to revive slumping industry seems to be failed in proving its effect. The car makers are yet not seeing positive sales numbers continuing previous year trend. The government’s excise did not worked for all the car makers, especially Indian players remain declining while Honda, Ford and Nissan broke the down trend.
The table shows, Honda is top gainer in the list backing by sales of its new Compact Sedan Amaze and new Honda City Diesel. Ford sale also driven by its new launch Ford Eco Sport. Ford also exported 5,449 vehicles in March 2014.
“Our performance was largely helped by the success of Amaze and City sedans and our foray into the diesel market with i-DTEC diesel technology that received an overwhelming response. We plan to keep the momentum going with our two new products, Mobilio MPV and the Jazz hatchback, due for launch during this new financial year” Mr. JnaneswarSen, Senior VP Marketing and Sales at Honda said, commenting on company’s sales number.
Japanese Motor player, data not shown in the table, marked record break up swing selling 7019 units, up by 230 per cent, following its entry level hatchback Datsun Go.
Whereas Maruti remains almost unchanged, showing growth of 0.3 percent in last financial year. Hyundai post 0.9 percent decline, Tata Motors declined 37.7 percent, while SUV major Mahindra declined 17.9 percent leading a high competition from other SUVs from Maruti Suzuki and Renault.
“Tough times continue for the industry with only the tried and tested brands able to attract customers. While the market is gradually shifting towards petrol cars on the narrowing price differential, it was the newly-launched models that performed better and helped companies build momentum.” said Rakesh Srivastava, senior VP Sales & Marketing HMIL.
