Hyundai Xcent Does well in initial Phase


Hyundai Xcent, having pretty good completion in segment managed to well in initial phase. The new compact sedan based on i10 Grand hatch back has sold 6,663 units in the April, 2014. Its direct competitor Amaze Sedan sales declined facing stiff competition from this new launch.


Overall passenger car sales has declined by 10 percent in the April but Xcent managed to do well in the time. The customer are facing waiting period of about a month or two depending on the models. The base petrol and petrol automatic variants comes in a month, mid-level petrol and diesel variants will be in 45 days period  and high models have waiting period of about 2 months.

While its sister brand, Grand i10 is doing pretty well even after 9 months of its launch. It sold about 9,162 units in the month of April. 

Talking about competitors, Amaze has managed to sell only 3,355 units, and Swift Dzire sold 16,008 units and Swift also managed to sell 15,874 units in the month of April.

Nissan India Inaugurates Own Sales & Marketing Headquarter in Mumbai

Nissan India had a strategic partnership with Hover Automotive India Ltd, who was responsible for carrying out sales and marketing activity for Nissan brands.  The company had this ties from 2008 to February this year, during the period Nissan has gained significant grip on the market. In February, Nissan made sudden announcement terminating the contract with Hover Automotive and will sales and marketing activities by themselves.

Now, after 3 months of end of tie, the company has inaugurated new headquarter that will take care of sales and marketing activity of the Nissan brands. It was inaugurated by Mr. Takashi Hata, Senior VP, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd and Chairman of Nissan Africa, Middle East and India region.

At the occasion Mr. KenichiroYomura, President, Nissan India Operation said, “We have implemented significant improvements to our business structure in India. As a result, Nissan Motor India Private Ltd has assumed full responsibility for the sales, marketing and distribution of all Nissan and Datsun-branded vehicles and parts in India. The inauguration of our sales and marketing headquarters in Mumbai is a key step to help expand our reach and visibility to our customers in this very important growth market.”

The company’s main corporate headquarter is based in Chennai, and Mumbai’s new headquarter will be second biggest in the India for the company.

GM India to Export Chevrolet Beat to Chile

General motor, selling its car under the brand name of Chevrolet is planning to export its Beat Brand from Indian production unit. The move came after many players has already started implementing this exercise. The company is will start production of left hand drive cars at Talegaon plant in coming months.


The company has expected to send Beat to Chile from the beginning of the year 2015. Speaking on the news Mr. ArvindSaxena, President and MD, GM India said that “The start of Beat exports underlines GM’s commitment to India and demonstrates the quality of the country’s growing supplier base,” and “The exports will create more employment opportunities within GM India and the supplier community while helping improve capacity utilization at the Talegaon Plant.”

As per the company statement Beat is the top selling car in Indian market from the company’s portfolio.

2015 Chevrolet Aveo Revealed

General Motor, selling its cars under the name of Chevrolet has revealed New Compact Sedan 2015 Aveo in Shanghai. The car has been developed at Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) in Shanghai giving more emphasis on Chinese choice at the top of mind.

 The new Chevrolet Aveo has package of changes and this will be second model so far based on Chevrolet’s “Power of Ingenuity – Youth” concept after its Trax urban SUV. Talking about Exterior design, the 2015 Aveo gets clean, neat yet sporty look. The front of the car has received a big upper dual port chrome grille and newly designed bow tie emblem, multi-layered headlamps while aligned to upper part of the grille. New set of fog lamps with chrome accents adds to its front beauty.
The car will have 16-inch alloy wheels, almost plain side body with small cross crease at the bottom. At the rear side gets nice hamper of lights and horizontal sculpted lines. The technical details are yet not revealed by the company but is expected to come with Ecotec DVVT engine, mated with six-speed automatic transmission. The company claims more enhanced safety features in upcoming cars. The car will be put in to market for sale in next month in only Chinese market.

Auto Industry Expect New Government to Boost up Utilization of Idle Capacity

Passenger car industry, after swear-in of new Government yesterday, expect huge policy reforms that help it utilize maximum of installed capacity. The SIAM numbers shows Indian Auto Mobile industry is just able to utilize about 55 percent of its current installed capacity.

 

Now all the players expect new policies that drive economic growth to enhance the demand level and auto industry specific policies that helps to fight against the labour problems, high cost of raw materials etc. Expecting high future demand, companies have invested about Rs. 20,000 crore in building new capacities but they remain unutilized as market continued to sluggish.

Industry expected sales to reach benchmark of 3 million vehicles but it remains untouched as sales fell 6.05 percent in the fiscal year 2013-14. Commenting on the issue, Mr. Vishnu Mathur Director General SIAM said, “Going by the sluggish market conditions, fresh investments in capacity building are unlikely,” and auto makers need to “carry on investments in developing new products, as well as ongoing research and development projects, notwithstanding the current slowdown.

The industry had major expectation when previous government reduced excise on the cars, but market did not turn up to the expectations of the industry. Now once again new government will showcase its mind to survive industry upcoming budget in June, 14. The new stable government is expected to perform better and revive growth rate and control inflation with much better instrument than used earlier.

P Baledran VP GM India said that “With a new stable government in place, we expect early implementation of second-generation economic reforms like GST (goods and services tax) and DTC (direct tax code) and speeding up of stalled infrastructural projects to revive the economy.

Despite, lower capacity utilization, some of the auto players still wants to secure its future capacity of meeting demand, and are installing new capacity plants in the country. Ford motors in investing approximately Rs. 5900 crore to build new capacity that will add 2,40,000 units to its existing capacity. While Maruti is also working on first phase of its Rs. 3000 crore investment in Gujarat for capacity expansion.

Bentley Releases Teaser for its Upcoming SUV

Bentley, a luxury car maker from Britain has released a teaser video of its upcoming SUV car. The video shows styling aspect of the car, The Company’s official website show case the video. The company has put this SUV with tag line of “We don’t see lines, we see light.”


The company also posted below the video that “The coming months will see the refinement of a car that has been two years in the making. A vehicle designed from the outset to take luxury to new heights – and change forever the way the world sees the SUV.”

The Bentley SUV is expected to go in production in 2016 with different range of engines including a plug-in hybrid option for 2017. It is expected that Bentley’s redesign of its EXP 9 F concept, undertaken by design Chief Mr. Luc Donckerwolke, is expected to deliver maximum speed of 320kph. The EXP 9 F, first seen at the Geneva motor show in 2012, has been in the production engineering phase for about 12 months, and a significant part of that process has been a fundamental redesign.
